Student SOURCE Award: October 19, 2016
We were awarded $500 from the Student SOURCE award, which is a huge help in allowing us to continue our project. We would like to thank Daniel Smith, Ed.D for choosing us and the donors for making it possible.
Microcontroller Switch: January 16, 2017
Our initial plan was using PIC 18F45K20 microcontrollers for the mobile node and ground nodes. However, because of the difficulty we had of trying to program the use of an SD card in MPLAB, we have switched over to using a Digilent WF32 board for the mobile node. This board uses a PIC 32 microcontroller instead and easily allows the use of an SD card on-board. We have also decided to switch to Digilent UC32 board for the sensor nodes on the ground.
Capsule for the Drone: February 21, 2017
Sean Headrick has fabricated a sturdy and well-designed container in where the mobile node will fit on the drone. Below is the design of the capsule.
